Lisa and Jeff, a devoted couple of 26 years, share a unique story that spans different corners of the United States. Lisa's roots trace back to Mississippi, while Jeff's upbringing took him from the East Coast to California before settling in the Lone Star State.
Lisa embarked on a career in engineering, relocating to Texas after her college graduation to work at Texas Instruments. Later, she embraced her passion for gardening, becoming a master gardener and dedicating her time to being a loving stay-at-home mom.
Jeff, on the other hand, pursued a path in technology entrepreneurship, adding his own dynamic flair to their journey.
In 1999, they acquired a lakeside retreat on the picturesque Lake Cypress Springs, where they've created cherished memories with countless friends and family. D Magazine has even recognized this lake as one of "The 10 Best Lakes to Call Home."
Their farm property, purchased in 2000, holds a special place in their hearts as it's adjacent to their lakeside haven, touching the tranquil waters in a serene cove. Initially serving as a hay field, this property underwent a transformation in 2015 when Lisa's dream of establishing a homestead and escaping the bustling Dallas metroplex took root. Fences, wells, and barns began to dot the landscape, culminating in a permanent move to the farm in 2019.
Becoming homesteaders brought immense satisfaction, especially in the era of COVID, as they embraced self-sufficiency, off-grid living, and remote work opportunities. The sheer joy of raising their own animals, cultivating their food, and living in harmony with nature became an integral part of their lives.
Now, as they embark on a new chapter, Lisa and Jeff will bid a fond farewell to their beloved homestead, seeking closer proximity to their elderly family members during this important stage of their lives.
